Trumbull College
Yale University
New Haven, Connecticut
Goody Clancy completed comprehensive restoration and renovations to Trumbull College in 2006. Trumbull is a 127,000 SF complex on seven levels designed by James Gamble Rogers in the Collegiate Gothic style and modeled after King’s College, Cambridge. Rogers considered Trumbull the masterpiece among the nine residential colleges he designed for the University. The picturesque details of the college include Jacobean chimneys, gothic arches and a large Norman dining room. It houses social and recreational spaces, student residences, food service facilities, library, seminar rooms and faculty offices as well as residences for the college master, dean and fellows.
Relevant Project Information:
- Project scope included comprehensive restoration of the building exteriors (stone and slate roof restoration, replacement of steel windows) and decorative interior spaces such as the dining hall and library.

- Underutilized below-grade spaces were transformed into new recreational areas including lounges, café, theater, art studios, and other amenity spaces that meet current needs but maintain flexibility for future uses.
