DESIGN PROCESS
Drawn to Life: The Leventhal Center at Boston University
Lines have always made more sense to me than words; I find it easier to express my thoughts with them. As an architect, I am making and telling a story with space, texture, and light; for me, the story comes alive in those lines.
Sketches help me think through a problem. I draw my calendars, I storyboard my PowerPoint slides, and doodles and diagrams are always fun ways to assemble ideas.
I know that renderings have the power of realism, and we live in a digital world, but drawing by hand on paper gives clarity to the thought process. It forces us to think things through, puts us into spaces to imagine what they can be, and provides an opportunity to engage, share, and evolve which I find extremely enriching.
